We booked this guest house for a few nights as we had several days of appointments in Southampton. It was comfortable enough, in a good location, with hearty cooked breakfast included; enough to keep us going for the day. It was easy to get transport throughout the city as bus stops are only a few minutes walk away. Unfortunately the noise of other guests, rather than the quiet surrounds, grated after a while. The motion activated lighting became a little irritating, especially in the bathroom when it turned off during my shower. The house was also quite dusty, not dirty in the important areas, but it's a little off putting. Overall I would recommend this accommodation and thank the hostess for holding our luggage for a few hours after we had departed.
Nice b&b with very reasonable prices. We stayed for one night over the august bank holiday and it had everything we needed. Great breakfast too.

Decent budget hotel ideal for quick stops on route or for local working. The staff and manager here are very good and make the effort to chat and remember guests names etc. which makes a real difference. Rooms are spacious and comfortable and have all you need for a short stay. Wi-Fi is free to access. The hotel serves basic food 24hrs a day and do room delivery. Breakfast is a buffet which can be busy at peak times but generally quite good. Location is close to M271 and not far from M27 and M3 on edge of Southampton. Traffic into local roundabout can be very busy in rush hour but fine at other times.
Very welcoming receptionist. Lovely clean room with exceptionally comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good. Would definitely stop here again.

Amazing food. Incredible selection for vegans and vegetarians (and if you're a veggie, you'll know that you usually have a choice of 1 or 2 items. This place must have had 30!!). Yes, it's pretty much all burgers, but they are seriously gourmet burgers! I had the volcano ii converted to vegan and I've got to say that it is the first time that a restaurant had ever made something for me that is actually fiery enough! Made a very good excuse to sample some of the excellent beer to try and cool down! We had intended to have dessert but after the monster starters and colossal mains, there wasn't any room left!
Nice pub, great staff and awesome food. Lea in particular was amazing, knew her stuff and friendly. Thank you so much!

Lovely pub! Always has a great atmosphere and we have always managed to get a table, even when just strolling in. Would advise to book if you’re planning to visit at the weekend so you’re not left disappointed. Staff are very friendly and they have a good selections of ales and beers. The food is very good and so are the portions. My husband and I have been quite a few times and will definitely be back again!
This place is awesome. Really good beers with a great selection. The Brewhouse own beers are good but only if the stuff is working. Food all comes with drink suggestions and is really well made. Been here a couple of times and due to the slightly more expensive prices than average bars, it is more of a treat to go as it is much better than the average mitre or wild lime.

Good place to eat for lunch, cheap eats & comes out of the kitchen fast. Reasonably priced, especially with the Rev's card. Good cocktails in the evening. Would like more people on the bar in the evenings on a Friday and Saturday as you can be waiting a l o n g time. Last time this happened, the bartender was nice enough to give me a shot on the house. Would recommend.
Nice bar with a nice crowd. 3 story bar will offer you a good night out with out the student interaction. Genetal age group here is 25 to 45. Roof terrace especially worth seeing in the summer months.

Very friendly owners, clean, tidy and well presented B&B. Stayed in room 1 and couldn't move in the bathroom.... A tad small! £85 for two for one night without breakfast we thought was a little expensive.
Comfortable beds free Wi-Fi plenty of space the management was quite friendly. Didn't eat breakfast but the dining area look nice and the breakfast look good from the guests that I saw that were eating. All in all very nice experience.

The best sleep I ever had over the years and the best breakfast ever!
I ended up in Amberley Guest House by finding their contact information on internet and just gave it a try. I was so satisfied with the quality and friendliness of this accommodation that I always come back there when I visit Southampton. In fact I became to live 1 year in Southampton and during that time I always recommended Amberley Guest House to anyone who I knew was visiting the city whenever I wasn't able to give them a place to stay myself. This B&B offers great value for money at price that is typical to bed and breakfast accommodation in the UK. It is conveniently located at walking distance from city centre and train and bus stations, also not far from University of Southampton. I can recommend to anybody who is visiting Southampton to stay in Amberley and talk to Eliana and Peter because that is the best way to get to know Southampton.

Friendly and relatively cheap. Good full English breakfast. Rooms are clean and basic, with a flat screen TV and a sink, and the loos/showers are communal. However, the big drawback to this B & B is the difficulty of parking at or near Abbey Lodge. There are 4 spaces outside the building but these are permanently filled by White Van men🤤 If you park on the street locally, this is metered and chargeable, and strictly policed by the Council. 😯
Nice place, clean rooms, good location but a little bit noisy.
If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
